Have you ever felt you have to alter the way you turn up?
Let’s go way back in time, where you possible dressed a certain way to fit in with the cool kids or where you listened to the same music just to feel you could add some context in those lunchtime conversations.
Or let’s not go back too far but lets look at your past relationship.
Maybe somethings were highlighted you did wrong, and now you had to make significant changes right to make it work.
You lost a bit of who you really are and what you stand for?
And now if we fast forward in time, we look at ourselves in the mirror and don't recognise the person standing where you stand in your reflection.
This is painful right?
What does it feel like looking at this stranger you see standing before you?
Now we may have gone through this experience, or some of us are still there.
The truth behind anything that has been said in the past or present is that you don’t have to change your ways. In all honesty you don’t really have to do anything.
You choose to want to do certain things.
You make a conscious decision to act accordingly.
Let me throw a few examples:
You don’t have to diet if you don’t want too, you could just obtain a calorie deficit by working out even harder or longer to lose weight. You make the conscious decision to do what is right by you with your goals.
You don’t have to make a profit to pay for your bills. The truth is you could make a loss but spend more of your time in another avenue to generate income to pay for your expenses.
It may sound funny and someone will say something quite extreme, but the reality is you are in control of your choices and the decision you ant to make.
I want to leave you with a scenario to think about...
The next time you see yourself having to change your ways to fit their agenda, ask yourself is this worth it?
Ask yourself the question are they the right crowd/group to be in association with?
Or let’s be more positive, what is the best that could happen if you chose to be you more often in this environment?
Something to think about
